At Skinnovate, we offer several different types of massage, including Deep Tissue Massage, Swedish Massage, Aromatherapy Massage, and Indian Head Massage. Each type of massage has different characterestics and benefits.
The practice of using touch as a healing method derives from customs and techniques rooted in ancient history. Civilizations in the East and West found that natural healing and massage could heal injuries, relieve pain, and prevent and cure illnesses. What’s more, it helped reduce stress and produce deep relaxation.
Ayurvedic massage was developed in India around 3000BC, but massage was also practice in both Egypt and China around this time. Massage was often combined with other forms of holistic healing and meditation depending on the clients' needs.
Like most types of massage, deep tissue massage can reduce stress and increase seratonin levels. It also helps maintain a healthy blood pressure, reduces chronic pain, helps to break up scar tissue, and rehabilitates muscle injuries. This type of massage focuses on the deep fascia of the muscle and it can affect real change in your posture and the movement of your muscles.
In contrast to deep tissue massage, Swedish massage (also called classic massage) focuses mainly on the superficial muscles. Specific movements (effleurage, petrissage, kneading, vibration/percussion) are performed in sequence to produce an overall relaxing effect.
Aromatherapy massage often adds essential oils - either directly to the skin or infused into the air - to either Deep Tissue or Swedish Massage in order to produce this effect.
Indian Head massage concentrates on delivering a gentle, relaxing massage to the scalp.
Our therapists are fully trained and experienced in the art of massage. There’s no doubt that an hour with us will leave you feeling pampered and refreshed.
